Ambitious Vocabulary Building Worksheet Placemat GCSE Creative Writing Pack 3

(0)
A set of 10 ambitious vocabulary worksheets / placemats. They were created for students preparing for their GCSE exams but could be introduced in KS3 for higher ability students. The vocabulary in this set includes: melancholic, thunderous, generosity, angelic, patriotic, diabolical, deride, obscure, clandestine and fabricate. There is also a blank copy of the worksheet so that you can select vocabulary for your classes. I found that students struggled to recall a lot of the vocabulary we spoke about in the classroom so put together these worksheets so students can fully engage with new and ambitious vocabulary and are much more likely to remember it. I chose vocabulary that can help with academic writing in both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature and creative writing. They work really well as a starter activity and I often have them on the desks as students enter the classroom - once students have completed a few with guidance, they get straight to work on them without as much input from the teacher. They are also great to have for students who finish work quickly.
